RATIONALE

High-quality Relationship, Social, Health Education (RSHE) and Sexual Health Education (RSE) provides children with the knowledge and abilities to develop holistically into successful individuals. Informed by our locality, our children’s needs, West Sussex County Council’s Education 4 Safeguarding (E4S), the RSHE Association, and RSHE association’s recommended resource, 1Decision, RSHE has a high profile in our school. RSHE lessons foster children’s interpersonal and social skills, as well as learning and understanding key facts necessary to stay safe and healthy throughout their lives. A carefully-considered, cyclical, progressive curriculum provides pupils with a safe space to develop their metacognition, foster positive attitudes and hone life-long learning skills to keep themselves safe, which enable them to thrive.
